Sister Experiences

When I first started college I had an incredibly hard time adjusting. I was away from my mom and sister for the first time, processing a huge new journey, and also processing the grief of losing a loved one to their mental health struggles. I had a difficult time making friends and feeling connected to my college. I decided my second semester that it was time to put myself out there and try to find a sisterhood to connect with. Immediately within my first times talking to kappa I was greeted with kindness, support, laughter, and joy; I felt like I was with my own sister at home and surrounded by love. Every day I have spent in kappa since then I have felt the same exact emotions, if not a greater sense of sisterhood. I was able to bond to our philanthropy as I am now our philanthropy director, helping others find healing as I myself heal as well. Kappa has given me so much and I am beyond thankful to have an opportunity to give back to kappa through our sisterhood and my position as philanthropy director.

When I joined Kappa, I knew nothing about Greek Life. I went through formal rush with the help of my mom, who was in a chapter, and her experience was vastly different from my mine. I was scared I wasn't cut out for sorority life, but after going through the new member process at Kappa, I felt at home. I learned that being a sorority woman wasn't adhering to the stereotypes or buying jewelry and clothes and being silly, but it was really letting your personality shine in a room full of other brilliant and fantastic women. I love Kappa because we celebrate our differences and uplift each other even if it's not our direct experience. I'm glad Kappa gave me the space to grow into the person I am today.

When I first joined Kappa, I was coming from a small town where everything felt familiar and comfortable. Adjusting to a large campus was overwhelming, and I struggled at first to find my place. I missed the sense of being known and had to push myself outside of my comfort zone in ways I never had before. Kappa gave me the sisterhood and support I needed during that transition. Through meaningful friendships and leadership opportunities within the chapter, I gained confidence and discovered strengths I didn’t know I had. What started as a challenging adjustment became one of the most transformative experiences of my college career, helping me grow both personally and as a leader. I am forever grateful for my experiance in Kappa & the women I lovingly call my sisters.

I picked Kappa because I wanted to feel safe and able to be my full authentic self. Kappa gives me just that. I did not fall in love with the chapter but everyone single girl who makes up our community!! I am so thankful everyday I ran home to kappa. Our philanthropy means so much to me as I have gone through my own mental health struggles! Kappa can help me make a difference through our philanthropy! I can’t wait for what’s more to come through our sisterhood
